Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 October 2026
Paseo is an app for reading the day's news in Spanish at your level. This policy says what we collect when you use it, why, who helps us process it, and what you can ask of us. We have kept it short because we collect little.
Who we are
Paseo is made by FITSHOT LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16874572). FITSHOT LTD is the controller of your personal data. Write to us at hello@getpaseo.com about anything in this policy.
The short version
- You can use Paseo without an account. Your progress then stays on your phone.
- We record how the app is used (which stories, which exercises, right or wrong) to make it better. These records carry a random identifier, not your name.
- No advertising, no selling or renting your data, and no tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
What we collect, and why
| What | Why | Legal basis (UK and EU GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Your progress: your level, topics, reminder time, the stories you finished, your tiles and streak, your saved words. | To run the app. Stored on your phone; if you sign in, also on our servers so it can move to another phone. | Contract: providing the service you asked for. |
| Usage records: the screens you open, the stories and exercises you start and finish, your answers and how long they took, and with each record your country (from your phone's region setting), the app and system version, your level, your streak and the week you installed Paseo. | To see what works and fix what does not: which stories are finished, which exercises are too hard, where people stop. | Legitimate interests: improving the app. The records are tied to a random identifier, never used for advertising. |
| Account, if you choose to sign in: with Apple or Google, the email address and name the provider shares (Apple lets you hide your email), and the provider's account identifier. | To keep your progress when you change phones, and to let you delete it. | Contract. |
| Subscription status, if you subscribe: whether you are on a trial or a paid plan, and when it renews. | To unlock what you paid for. Payment itself is handled by Apple; we never see your card. | Contract. |
| Messages you send us by email. | To answer you. | Legitimate interests. |
The daily reminder is scheduled on your phone, and you can turn it off in the app or in your phone's settings. Paseo does not use your microphone, camera, contacts or location.
Who processes it for us
We use a few providers who process data only on our instructions:
- Apple, for the App Store, subscriptions and Sign in with Apple.
- Google (Firebase and Google Cloud), for sign-in, storing the progress of signed-in users and running our servers.
- PostHog, for the usage records, hosted in the EU.
Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where your data leaves the UK or the EU, the transfer relies on the UK-US data bridge and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or on the standard contractual clauses approved for the purpose.
How long we keep it
Progress on your phone stays until you delete the app. An account and its progress stay until you delete them. Usage records are kept for up to two years, then deleted or reduced to totals that identify no one. Emails are kept as long as needed to answer them.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. To delete your account and everything stored with it, use Settings, Delete account and data in the app, or email us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) in the UK, or to the data protection authority where you live in the EU.
Children
Paseo is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app before a change that matters takes effect.
